Includes lens hood. Canon EF 24-70mm F/2.8L II USM. Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Art. It comes with a lens hood so that you don’t have to buy it separately. These are used to block strong light sources, such as the sun, from the lens to prevent glare and lens flare. Lens hood is reversible. Canon EF 24-70mm F/2.8L II USM.
In general, the Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 ART’s resolution was excellent in the center of the lens. Depending on the the light and conditions, it was sometimes on par with the Canon 24-70 f/2.8L II comparison unit, though no better. However, away from the center, resolution was often quite bad. Take a look, starting at the 70mm end of the zoom range.
Just posted: Our review of Canon's top-end standard zoom, the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM. Launched a year ago to replace its 10-year old predecessor, it's designed as a workhorse for professional photographers, and features a completely new optical design and improved, weathersealed build. In the latest of our lens reviews produced in collaboration with DxOMark, we take a look both lab and real
The handling of the RF f/4 is nicer as it has a smaller diameter than the RF f/2.8 version. The zoom ring is the smoothest I've ever tried on an external zooming lens. It focuses very fast even at the minimum focusing distance (0.6m, which is impressive). But I'm still eager to try the RF f/2.8. I have the EF 70-200 f/2.8 IS II USM.
Consider that landscape photography is frequently done at a slow aperture, closed-down to f/8 or f/11. f/2.0 isn't going to be helpful, here. Consider that the 28-70 is a monstrously heavy lens, and you'd have to carry it for those landscape shots. Consider that you can still use that 24-105 on the EOS R with an adapter.
I think that 24-70 is a little short for head and shoulder portraits. 85mm is a bare minimum on FF. 70-200 is a better zoom option and there is an abundance of decent primes above 100mm. 100/2.0 could be a good starting point. IQ-wise is the same as 85/1.8. Reply Reply with quote Reply to thread Complain.
This is a Lens REVIEW of the Canon RF 70-200 f4 IS, against Canon’s RF 70-200 f2.8. I took both of these out to photograph Ice Hockey which is one of the hardest things in my opinion to shoot. If a lens can handle ice hockey, it can handle anything. The question is, should you go with the f4 or the 2.8?
The 24-70 is an architecture/landscape and indoor event lens. The 24-105 is a street photography and outdoor event lens. Both are excellent, but both are full-frame lenses that will be annoyingly long on an 80D. For your purposes, take Scott's advice and get the 17-55 f/2.8.
