Grab the extension and twist (just like Syn said). Then, work the extension and lamp housing around to the rear in order to remove the bulb. Putting the bulb back in is a bit of a challenge one-handed, but getting two hands in isn't easy, either. Both ways are possible. Note: there isn't much play in the wiring.

Usually when the front flashes fast the rear is out, I would put on the signal and check both the front and rear. Also you may want to bend the little metal connection plates on the bulb holder itself.
Once you take those out the top piece of the cover pops right of. You dont have to take the bottom piece out. The turn signal/multifunction switch is one part.there is a plug that pulls out and a small wire harness that you disconnect. There is one screw on the bottom that connects the switch to thr steering wheel.

The brake light, reverse light, and turn signal work as long as lights are not on. A problem with the Tail Light Switch is associated with a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. If I turn on the lights on my Grand Cherokee’s driver’s side brake light, it works perfectly fine. My Grand Cherokee has the same problem as any of my Cherokee ancestors.
